This weekend we treated celebratory adult riders to crisp, cool cups of IPA at the end of the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance’s Aeolian bike parade. It was a kid-friendly affair that we put a lot of preparation into. And on our part we had everyone in the family offering a helping hand.
Artist Jessica Findley, the mind behind the super fun Aeolian suits, led the parade of adults and kids (wearing puffy suits) from the bath house at Riis Beach to the concession stands at Beach 97th. The ride to about 45 minutes and included various ingenious bipedal contraptions. Besides the blow-up suits there were goldfish, a pirate ship, a school of jelly fish, a quad tandem with snare drummers and ukulele strummers and various bikes with appliqued decorations.
